The four priests of the Oratory were in Brisbane together over the recent weekend of October 11 and 12. They met to continue both the formation of the community and also to progress business and discuss issues as preparations are made for the formal erection of the Oratory by Archbishop Mark Coleridge in 2015.
Each beginning Oratory must spend at least three years in formation under the authority of the local Ordinary, in our case Archbishop Coleridge. When three years have elapsed and there has been demonstrated success in living the Oratorian way of life, with the approval of the local Ordinary, a community may petition the Holy Father to be erected as an Oratory of St Philip Neri.
During the years of formation a leader of the Community is needed and he is called the Moderator. An important part of the meeting last weekend was the election of a Moderator. The Fathers are pleased to announce that they have chosen Fr Paul Chandler to be the Moderator of the Brisbane Oratory in Formation for three years.
We ask that you continue to pray for the Community and its Moderator as we enter the final stages of preparation and look forward to our formal beginning in 2015.
