In accordance with Catholic tradition, on Good Friday, the lights in the church remained off. The Liturgy began at 3:00pm and as the Liturgy progressed the Church became darker and darker. The lights would not be lit again until the Ceremony of Light at the Easter Vigil. This was the sun coming through the west rose window, lighting up the sanctuary at the time for Holy Communion. Not much later, the commemoration of the Passion finished, and the church was plunged into darkness as we awaited the celebration of the Resurrection.
