Solemn High Mass – September 17th 2015
The Brisbane Oratory in Formation was delighted to host the recently-ordained Fr Stefan Matuszek of the Diocese of Lismore on Sept 27th. Fr Stefan celebrated a Solemn High Mass at which many of his Brisbane friends were present. It was a Votive Mass of the Most Blessed Sacrament. His Lordship, Bishop Geoffrey Jarrett of Lismore gave the occasional sermon and Fr Scot Armstrong was the deacon and Fr Paul Chandler was the subdeacon. Once more the Frassati Schola and Altar Servers assisted nobly and beautifully.
Reception of the Habit – September 6th 2015
This day marked the beginning of formation for our two newest novices: Br Conor Power and Br Matthew Buckley
Solemn High Mass – 11 August 2015
This day marked the 125th anniversary of the death of Bl John Henry Newman. It was attended by close to a hundred people and what a marvellous occasion to remember this holy man, marked by intellectual genius, unremitting search for the truth and love of Christ’s Church. Let us pray that soon he will be raised to the altars as Saint.
Solemn Mass – 21 July 2015
This day marked the 500th anniversary of the birth of St Philip Neri, founder of the Oratory. His birth was marked by Oratories throughout the world along with the lay faithful served by the Oratory clergy. In Brisbane, we marked it with a Solemn Mass in the Ordinary Form together with the Frassati young adults, who provided the altar servers and the choir, as well as our parishioners.
Solemn High Mass – June 14th 2015
The Brisbane Oratory in Formation was formally established by His Grace Archbishop Mark Coleridge, Archbishop of Brisbane, on the feast of St Philip Neri, Tuesday the 26th of May. On Sunday the 14th of June our inaugural Solemn High Mass in the Extraordinary Form was celebrated beautifully with the attendance of over 200 people. Solemn Vespers with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament was celebrated in the late afternoon. The whole day was a most prayerful event with beautiful sacred music.
Solemn Vespers and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament – June 14 2015
In the afternoon of the same day on which many gathered with the Oratory Community to celebrate our inaugural Solemn High Mass, we celebrated Solemn Vespers of the 1962 Breviary followed by Benediction. This Sunday celebration of the Divine Office with Benediction is a hallmark of the Oratories around the world.
