In our Oratorio series, we showcase beautiful religious music that can help all of us raise our hearts and minds to God. All people are welcome to attend.
Our Pentecost Oratorio will feature Johann Sebastian Bach’s Cantata BWV 175. Bach composed this Cantata in 1725 specifically for “Whit Tuesday,” the 3rd day of Pentecost, and it is titled “Er rufet seinen Schafen mit Namen” (He calleth His own sheep by name). The Oratorio will feature an instrumental ensemble and the Brisbane Oratory Choir joined by interstate soloists, James Doig, Eugene Raggio, and Eleanor Adeney. The performance will be directed by Mr Warwick Adeney, director of music of the Brisbane Oratory (and concertmaster of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra). Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
