In the 90th year since his holy death on July 4th 1925, the Frassati young adults group connected with the Brisbane Oratory met today for Mass at 8am followed by  breakfast. Fr Chandler, Moderator of the Oratory and Spiritual Director of Frassati Australia, preached about Pier Giorgio’s involvement in the student and national politics of his time. Father particularly pointed out the Blessed’s opposition to Mussolini and Fascism and his willingness to engage in demonstrations and congresses, even to the point of being put in prison on remand for being part of such gatherings. Pier Giorgio, he stressed, is not only a man of the Beatitudes, as St John Paul II called him, but an example and model of involvement in the life of the nation. Quite rightly is he called ‘a patriotic citizen of the nation’ and ‘a loyal son of the Church’.
Bl Pier Giorgio Frassati, pray for us.
O God, you gave to Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati
the joy of meeting Christ in faith and in love.
Through his intercession,
grant that we, too, may spread
among the men and women of our time
the spirit of the Beatitudes of the Gospel.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen
