Today, Tuesday 12th November 2013, the Brisbane Oratory in Formation can announce that another priest, Fr Adrian Sharp of the Archdiocese of Brisbane, has joined the Project. We welcome Fr Sharp with enthusiasm. This is an exciting development for the Oratory as it looks to its establishment in 2015/16.

Fr Adrian Sharp

Born in 1975, Fr Adrian is the older son of Brian and Verna Sharp of Brisbane.  He grew up in Runcorn on Brisbane’s southside and attended primary school at Our Lady of Lourdes, Sunnybank. He completed secondary education at Clairvaux MacKillop College, Upper Mount Gravatt, in 1992.

Fr Adrian entered Pius XII Provincial Seminary, Banyo, in 1993, attaining there a Bachelor of Theology and a Graduate Diploma in Ministry.  He did pastoral placements as a seminarian in the parishes of Boonah and Inala.  He was ordained to the diaconate in December 1999, after which he began service in the parish of Booval. In September 2000 he was ordained to the presbyterate for the Archdiocese of Brisbane.

Following his time in Booval, Fr Adrian served as Associate Pastor in the parishes of Burleigh Heads, the Cathedral, Noosa District, Acacia Ridge and Sunnybank.  During 2003 he also spent some time with the Cistercian monks at Tarrawarra Abbey, in Melbourne.  In 2008 he was appointed Parish Priest of Coomera parish.

At the request of Archbishop John Bathersby, Fr Adrian undertook studies at Saint Paul University, Ottawa (Canada) from September 2010 to December 2012 to obtain a Licentiate in Canon Law.  These studies having been completed, Fr Adrian returned to Brisbane and took up work in the Marriage Tribunal as one of the Associate Judicial Vicars in January 2013.  He is also the Priest-in-Residence in the parish of Browns Plains.

In addition to tribunal and parish duties, Fr Adrian is also chaplain to Angelorum, an association of Catholic homeschooling families.  He is also supportively involved in perpetual adoration at Villa Maria, the activities of Frassati Australia, and also pro-life activities within the Archdiocese.

Fr Adrian believes that the Oratory will be a blessing for the members, and all those we will serve in our various apostolates and ministries.  He is pleased to be part of this project of creating something new and beautiful for Brisbane.
