With great excitement, we announce that the Brisbane Oratory will be holding its first major fundraising and social event this May. The first ‘Vallicella Dinner’ will be held on Saturday 24th May 2014. This will be the first event of many where the benefactors and supporters of the Brisbane Oratory gather together in a spirit of fellowship and faith. Each Vallicella Dinner will have the purpose of raising funds for the works and needs of the Oratory.
This year the money raised is being directed towards the formation and priestly education of the young men who will be the next generation of the Brisbane Oratory. Already we have one young man in formation. Br Shawn Murphy has begun at the Toronto Oratory and is close to completing his first year. He will be there for another two years to complete his philosophy segment of seminary education. Several other men are also discerning vocations to the Oratory.
This year’s dinner will feature an address on the Restoration of the Sacred by keynote speaker Matthew Arnold of St Joseph Communications in America.
Invitations are available to all upon request, but registrations must be finalised by 5pm on May 12th. If you would like to attend this dinner in support of the Brisbane Oratory in Formation, please contact Fr Paul Chandler: pwchandler@icloud.com
Please spread the word about this exciting first public event for the fledgling Brisbane Oratory. As always, we are immensely grateful for your ongoing prayers and support.
