The Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Friday 15 August is a Holy Day of Obligation.
A Holy Day is a day on which the faithful are obliged to participate in the celebration of the Mass and to refrain from work or activities that hinder worship, rest, or the proper relaxation of mind and body (CCC 2185).
